How long is the isthmus of Corinth?
Corinth canal or the Isthmus of Corinth is the narrow land bridge (four miles long) which connects the Peloponnese peninsula with the rest of the mainland of Greece. The word "isthmus" comes from the Ancient Greek word for "neck" and refers to the narrowness of the land. The Isthmus was known in the ancient world as the landmark separating the Peloponnese from mainland Greece. Ships can
only pass through the canal one at a time on a one-way system. Larger ships have to be towed by tugs. (make a stop during your arrival or departure.)
