Omens in ancent Greece

Before setting off for any battle mortals would check the omens. An omen (ionos in Greek) was literally a divine vulture, a carnivore bird. Observing its
screeching, the way it flew and the direction of its flight, the ancient Greeks tried to predict the future. The echo and the different kinds of thunders from the skies were important signs too. Something like statistics in today’s terms.

Greece the love we share!
